Taylors Late Bottled Vintage Port
Both Vintage Port and LBV consist of a selection of full-bodied, excellent quality red Port wines from a single year. The fundamental difference between the two styles lies in the way each one is staged. Vintage Port ages in wood for only around 20 months, and is then transferred to the bottle where it will continue to age. Late Bottled Vintage, as the English name suggests, is bottled later, remaining in wood for four to six years. During this relatively long period of time of aging in wood, an LBV matures and “rounds out”. It is ready to drink immediately after bottling, does not need to be decanted and can be consumed several weeks after the bottle has been opened.
